Students at the Ecole Internationale de Coupe et Création "SARTEN- Mode", a vocational training program in sewing and cutting, received their diplomas on Sunday, April 14, 2024, in Lomé. The ceremony was presided over by the school's promoter, Mme Latta Christine. She was surrounded by administrative and traditional authorities from Adétikopé and the Agoè-Nyivé 6 commune, and the festive atmosphere included a fashion show.

A total of 22 winners received their diplomas, divided into two categories: 17 winners of the Certificat d'Aptitude Professionnelle (CAP) after 3 full years of training, and 05 winners of the Certificat de Fin Formation (CFA), after 2 full years of training.

According to the promoter, Latta Christine, it's a source of pride to have taken such a big step, given the difficulties, but these difficulties are becoming challenges for the school. "I'm satisfied with this training, but not quite because there's still work to be done in the field. But as we often say, every difficulty is a challenge. It's satisfying to have overcome the first challenge, and I think that the next few times, with God's help, will be fine", said Ms. Latta Christine, promoter and founder of the International School of Cutting and Design.

She also indicated that the creation of this school in Adétikopé meets a need. I've seen the suffering of children who leave the outskirts to go to the city to learn a trade, and the difficulties they encounter during their training. That's why I decided to set up this training school in Adetikome, outside the city of Lomé.

For Mr Talabia Wiyao, teacher of classical cutting and sewing, the year has been peppered with many challenges, but the children have taken courage and the result is there. "I can't say it's been easy, because there have been ups and downs. But what I have learned is that the children have fought hard right up to the day they received their diplomas, despite the difficulties associated with the trade", revealed the cutting and sewing teacher. He said he was satisfied with the results and with the work the children presented during the evening, because they did it themselves, without the intervention of a teacher.

Eric Esso, the evening's prizewinner and a graduate in fashion design and model making, expressed his joy at having received this diploma, which launches him onto the job market. "I'm very happy about this diploma I've just received tonight, because it wasn't easy over the three years, but God's grace and effort paid off," he enthused.

The same is true of Batazi Merveille, who says she's delighted to have received this diploma, which will enable her to set up her own business and make the most of what she's learned to satisfy customers and her own needs.
She said that it was her passion for sewing that led her to this training program, which seemed easy in the first year, but became more serious later on, and the teachers were just as rigorous in enabling them to master sewing techniques.

Founded on October 1, 2014, the international cutting and design school SARTEN Mode is in its 3rd graduation year with a total of 300 fashion design and pattern-making graduates. The school trains in three categories including CFA, CAP and BT and its leitmotif is to be closer to young people in order to provide training of quality, excellence and professionalism.
