On the eve of the first leg of the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup Poland 2026 qualifiers, the Minister of Sports and Leisure, Dr Lidi Bessi Kama, sent a message of support and encouragement to Togo's national women's team, the Éperviers Dames U20.
"We wish our U20 Ladies' Sparrowhawks a good start to the competition, as they take on their Tunisian counterparts," declared the Minister, before motivating the players to "enjoy themselves" while seizing this opportunity "with all [their] strength".
The Togolese national team is thus off to an ambitious start to its qualifying campaign, against a Tunisian team renowned for its solidity. This match will be a real test for the young Éperviers, who will have to defend their national colors with determination.
The first leg is scheduled for May 11 2025, at the stadium, before a return to Tunisian soil on May 18 2025 at the Stade Olympique de Sousse. At stake: a place in the second round of qualifying for the U20 World Cup, to be held in Poland in 2026.
Through the Minister, the Togolese government is reaffirming its support for the sporting ambitions of young girls, in line with its policy of promoting women's sport in Togo.
