As part of the third edition of the Dialogue interprofessionnel sur la fiscalité, an international scientific symposium will be held on July 10 and 11, 2025 in Lomé. Entitled "International trade, economic development and sustainability: Focus on customs organizations and their role in trade facilitation in Africa", the event will bring together researchers, academics, decision-makers and experts.
Organized by the Institut de Formation Fiscale et Douanière de l'Office Togolais des Recettes (IFFD-OTR) in partnership with several international institutions, the symposium will explore the challenges and opportunities of African economic integration, particularly in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The aim is to examine the role of customs in facilitating trade, reducing economic inequalities and the energy transition, while promoting a sustainable development model adapted to Africa's specific characteristics. The selected contributions will be published in a collective work before the end of 2025, consolidating the recommendations arising from the debates.
In memory, this event takes place against a backdrop of increasing determination on the part of African nations to strengthen their commercial cooperation and stimulate industrialization. An essential initiative to propel the continent to the heart of world trade.
