Organized from April 04 to 05 at the Palais des Congrès in Cotonou by the United Nations as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD-30), the Global Youth Dialogue saw the participation of 04 young Togolese leaders who are very much involved in community life in Togo.
These are :
AYEVA Hayathe, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Activist (SRHR), National President of Mouvement d'Action des Jeunes de l'ATBEF (MAJ-ATBEF) and IPPF Board Member.
SODJI Ahli Anselme, Alumni YALI Dakar, Project Manager and Focal Point for the maritime region within the National Multisectoral Framework of Youth Actors involved in DSSRAJ
ASSIOM Komlanvi Toussaint, General Secretary of the Youth Projection Association and Bilingual Trainer;
SODJI Ahlimba Viviane, Paire Educatrice des Ados et Jeunes student at CEG ville 2 de Tsévie and participant in the Girl's Empowerment Challenge program
Focusing on the theme "A New Generation's Vision for the ICPD", this global gathering of young people from 130 countries lived up to its promise as a forum for constructive exchange on current challenges and the future of humanity.
Over the course of the 2 days, the young people had the opportunity to exchange ideas and formulate solutions and recommendations to meet the major challenges facing the world's youth today. The recommendations related to:
1) provide quality education and training that promotes employability and entrepreneurship in the face of the realities of the 21st century digital technology revolution;
2) to promote optimal services in the field of Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (DSSRAJ),
3) the full participation of young people in decision-making bodies (politics, governance, etc.) at local and national level in their country
4) the commitment of young people to work effectively to mitigate the effects of climate change on the living conditions of the population and young people;
5) to the civic and civic engagement of young people in a professional way;
6) conducting high-level advocacy projects to bring the voice of the world's 1.9 billion young people to the fore, using a participatory and inclusive approach without discrimination of any kind;
In view of these recommendations, we appeal to all UN member governments and partners to ensure that young people are informed, trained, involved and committed in the governance and development of any project that concerns them, because the future belongs to them.
It was a rich moment of learning and networking between the young people of the world, with the aim of realizing the vision of a balanced world for the new generation, taking into account the path of the 1.9 billion young people in the world today.
In the coming days, a feedback session will be organized for Togo's young leaders, with the support of partners committed to the cause of youth.
