The Togolese government is pursuing its policy of decentralizing higher education with increasing determination. The University of Kara, which has been in existence for twenty years, is currently benefiting from new buildings that meet international standards, notably for the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Institute of Agricultural Professions. At the same time, the University of Datcha is under construction, reinforcing the ambition to diversify and multiply the number of university centres across the country.
However, despite these significant advances, certain individuals with dubious intentions are attempting to undermine these efforts with unfounded criticism. They claim to be drawing up a negative balance sheet which, according to the authorities, only serves to promote their own personal agenda. In response, it is pointed out that these so-called trade unionists, rather than playing a constructive role in proposing solutions to improve the system, indulge in sterile political attacks.
Togo's public university continues to develop, convinced of its ability to overcome the challenges ahead, despite the reluctance of some.
