The Fédération Nationale des Groupements de Producteurs de Coton (FNGPC) (National Federation of Cotton Producers' Groups) is up in arms against the allegedly opaque management of Nouvelle Société Cotonnière du Togo (NSCT), a subsidiary of Olam Agri.
In a memorandum addressed to the authorities, producers point to a series of dysfunctions: an unbalanced price-setting mechanism, non-compliance with ginning rates, inadequate remuneration, and an accumulation of debts with no financial spin-off for industry players.
In protest, the FNGPC is temporarily suspending its collaboration with the NSCT, calling on the State to intervene urgently to safeguard the next cotton season.
