The youth and students of Kpélé, a dynamic locality in Togo, organized a conference-debate on Sunday November 03, 2024, at the Hotel Carrington d'adidogomé in Lomé, in the presence of M. Yawo Raphaël MELESUSU, president of the association, the honourable deputy M.DAKEY Koffi, the environment and climate change expert and researcher at the University of Lomé, Dr Dominic B.afelu and the president of the Golfe youth, M.ALAGBO Edzodjinam.
Placed under the theme: "What strategies and opportunities should be implemented for sustainable development? the meeting also brought together key community players, young leaders, elders such as Mr. AMOUZOU Koffi Expert comptable, Doyen de la préfecture de Kpélé and several local and regional personalities to discuss and develop solutions for the sustainable development of the region and the country.
Highlights of the meeting
The aim of the conference was to raise awareness and mobilize young people around the challenges of sustainable development, while identifying concrete strategies for a prosperous, environmentally-friendly future.
The conference also aimed to strengthen the involvement of young people and community leaders in local initiatives, exploring ways of promoting inclusive development that benefits all sections of the population.
Debates were the order of the day
Discussions focused on several key areas for sustainable development: education and training for young people: education was highlighted as a central pillar of development.
Participants discussed ways of improving access to quality education and vocational training for young people. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of practical skills in agriculture and entrepreneurship, which can generate income while preserving natural resources.
MEDZAGO participant Afi Marie Claire was delighted to leave the conference, thanking the elders for sharing their know-how. "This conference really opened my eyes to the importance of integrating sustainable practices into our daily lives. The speakers shared concrete, accessible ideas for reducing our ecological impact. I think that if everyone makes a little effort, together we can make a real difference for the planet. This type of exchange is essential for raising awareness and motivating "young people", she added.

Certificates of distinction were awarded at the event to seniors and young leaders in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the community. The aim of the event was to recognize members of the company for their efforts and dedication in a variety of fields, from imparting knowledge to seniors, to inspiring and motivating young leaders. This gesture of recognition strengthens the intergenerational bond and encourages participants to continue their involvement.
