By 2025, the Togolese government is committed to stepping up actions to improve drinking water supply, with a particular focus on rural and urban areas. This ambition is based on the continuation of existing projects and the launch of new initiatives to meet the growing needs of the population.
Implementation of the PASSCO and PASH-MUT programs, already underway, will be stepped up. At the same time, sustained efforts will be made to extend distribution networks, modernize water treatment plants and increase the number of boreholes in the most vulnerable localities.
To make these actions a reality, a budget of 22 billion FCFA has been allocated to the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, of which 86.33 % (i.e. 19 billion FCFA) will be specifically dedicated to the supply of drinking water.
These measures are part of a dynamic of continuous progress, as Togo has made significant advances over the past decade. The stated objective is to achieve a drinking water access rate of 80 % by the end of 2025. An ambition that testifies to the country's determination to sustainably improve the living conditions of its citizens.
