On September 5, 2024, the Ministry of Sports and Leisure signed a partnership agreement with the Togolese subsidiary of the pan-African banking group Ecobank to promote school and mass sports.
The cabinet of the Ministry of Sports and Leisure hosted this partnership agreement signing ceremony between the Minister Dr Lidi Bessi Kama and the Managing Director of Ecobank Togo Mr Souleyman TOURE.
This commitment from such a major financial institution is a sign of recognition of the Minister's bravery on the one hand, and an expression of the institution's willingness to support the Ministry in its policy of promoting grassroots sport through school and university championships, and above all mass sport, which is an excellent factor for social cohesion and living together.
The Managing Director of Ecobank Togo was very appreciative of the revitalization of the school and university championships undertaken by Minister Dr. Lidi Bessi Kama, not forgetting the national sports day, which has become a popular sporting event.
"This agreement materializes our willingness to contribute in order to promote the values conveyed by sport," said the Ecobank authority on its Linkedin account.
As for the Minister, Dr Lidi Bessi Kama, this agreement testifies to the willingness of the pan-African financial institution to support the vision of the President of the Republic SEM Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, who intends to make sports not only an instrument of peace, public health and social cohesion, but also a sector that creates wealth and provides jobs. She expressed her gratitude to Ecobank Togo for believing in the Head of State's vision.
This agreement adds Ecobank Togo to the portfolio of the Ministry's partners, such as BOAD, Plan International Togo and the ASKY Company for the promotion of sport and leisure in Togo.
