For the year 2024, the government plans to inject 2 billion FCFA into the project to revitalize the tourism sector. This is a sector that is recovering from the health crisis of 2020.
This allocation, which corresponds to around 58% of the 2024 annual budget (3.7 billion FCFA) allocated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, will be used to support the project to develop tourist sites and business tourism through the creation of a digital hotel reservation platform for major events.
In concrete terms, this will involve continuing the work already underway, notably the construction of a history museum on the Kamina site (20km from Atakpamé) and the creation of a reforestation area on the Koutammakou cultural heritage site.
As a reminder, in 2022, almost one million tourists visited Togo, a constant balance compared with 2021, when the country recorded 983,969 visitors. In 2020, some 500,000 tourists were recorded.
