For the first time in its history, Togo is taking part in the prestigious Venice Architecture Biennale, from May 10 to November 23, 2025, with a national pavilion at Squero Castello. Under the theme "Considering Togo's Architectural Heritagethe country is celebrating a century of architectural history through an Afrocentric approach.

Supported by the Ministry of the Digital Economy and directed by Sonia Lawson, Director of the Palais de Lomé, the exhibition is designed by Studio NEiDA, founded by Jeanne Autran-Edorh and Fabiola Büchele. The scenography highlights vernacular buildings such as the Tatas Tamberma, the troglodyte dwellings of Nôk, and Afro-Brazilian architecture. It also highlights emblematic modernist buildings, still in use or being restored.
This first participation marks a symbolic milestone for Togo, which joins 65 other countries in the running for the Lion d'Or, celebrating the richness, uniqueness and modernity of its built heritage.
