On Tuesday, June 11, 2015, the Togolese government officially launched a strategic mission to secure land in preparation for the construction of the new airport at Gbatopé, in the Zio prefecture. The operation, scheduled to last four months, is part of an ambitious drive to modernize the country's transport infrastructure.

The mission will be carried out in several essential phases: raising awareness among local populations, delimitation of the areas concerned, land surveys, precise identification of landowners and detailed mapping. It targets an area of 7,026 hectares, covering the localities of Gbatopé N°1 and N°2.

Supported by technical studies from ASECNA, this project represents a significant step forward for airport development in Togo. The authorities are insisting on rigorous, transparent and proactive management to avoid any land disputes during this major operation.
