(Le défenseur info) - A vast operation to destroy adulterated beverages took place this Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Dapaong, capital of the Savanes region. At the instigation of the region's Governor, Affoh Atcha-Dedji, police and gendarmerie forces proceeded to dispose of 50 drums and 131 cans of sodabi and other prohibited energy drinks.

This tough action is part of the strict application of theOrder N°_001 2025/MATDCC/RS/CAB-Gouv/SGissued at the beginning of the year, which formally prohibits the production, import, distribution, possession and sale of adulterated beverages throughout the region.

"Public health is a priority. These illicit products, often manufactured under dubious conditions, pose a serious threat to public safety", said a Gendarmerie official present at the scene of the destruction.

The operation took place under tight surveillance, in the presence of several administrative and security authorities, as well as representatives of the local population. The seizure was the result of several unannounced checks carried out in recent weeks in the city's markets, stores and informal sales outlets.

Regional authorities intend to keep up the pressure. Reinforced patrols and increased checks have been announced for the coming days to enforce the decree, protect consumers and clean up the local market.
