Togo has taken a decisive step forward in border management with the creation of the Togolese Border Authority (ATF). Announced at the Council of Ministers meeting on January 10, this new strategic structure will replace the existing commissions in charge of land and sea borders.
The aim of the ATF is to pool existing mechanisms to improve their efficiency. Its mission will be to support the government on frontline issues and contribute to the resolution of disputes relating to these strategic areas.
In a regional context marked by growing security challenges, this centralization of skills also aims to strengthen the management and dissemination of strategic information.
