The Togolese government has announced an envelope of 25 billion FCFA to subsidize the prices of petroleum products in 2025. This measure, revealed by the Ministry of Trade during parliamentary discussions on the 2025 finance law, is intended to mitigate the effects of high living. costs on households.
The products concerned include super unleaded, kerosene, diesel and two-stroke blends, with a subsidy of up to 233 FCFA per liter. A reduction in pump prices has already been in effect since December 10, 2024, thanks to a drop in barrel prices on the international market.
In addition, FCFA 9.6 billion will be allocated to subsidizing domestic gas, an essential resource for households. This initiative is in line with the State's ongoing efforts to strengthen citizens' purchasing power and stabilize the economy in the face of fluctuations in world markets.
It should be noted that this sum of 25 billion FCFA had already been mobilized in 2022 for similar measures, according to the former Minister of Commerce, Kodjo Adédzé.
