The Autorité de Régulation des Communications Électroniques et des Postes (ARCEP) recently introduced a unique code *801# enabling users of the Moov and Yas Togo networks to refuse SMS messages with advertising or commercial purposes.
This initiative, hailed by the Martin Luther King Movement (MMLK), responds to a growing concern among consumers about the flood of unwanted messages on their phones.
Despite operators' obligations to provide this option, many customers continue to complain about the ineffectiveness of existing devices. The new code allows users to deactivate these messages, either en bloc or by category, according to their preferences.
The MMLK points out that this service is free of charge, and encourages consumers to use it to regain a more serene communication experience.
As a reminder, to deactivate advertising messages, dial *801#.
