The Ministry of Economy and Finance has updated the official list of decentralized financial systems (SFD) operating in Togo. As of January 9, 2025, 132 microfinances grouped into 72 microfinance institutions have obtained official approval.
These SFDs, made up of savings and credit cooperatives, mutuals and savings banks, operate in various sectors, mainly trade, in partnership with government initiatives such as the National Fund for Inclusive Finance (FNFI).
The microfinance sector in Togo continues to record sustained growth. In 2024, despite a deterioration in the SFD portfolio, results were significant. Outstanding loans reached FCFA 400 billion in the first half of the year (+13% in one year), while the number of customers increased by 8% to 4.2 million.
This dynamic confirms the key role played by microfinance in financial inclusion and national economic development.
