On February 10, 2025, the Union pour la République (UNIR) party organized a meeting with its activists in Vakpossito, in the commune of Agoè-Nyivé 3, to raise awareness of the issues at stake in the February 15 senatorial elections.
This initiative, although senatorial elections are by indirect suffrage, aimed to include the population in the process because of the role of the Senate and its impact on the 5ᵉ Republic.
Led by party figures such as Ibrahima Mémounatou, Pascal Bodjona and Gilbert Bawara, the meeting emphasized the need for UNIR to obtain a majority in order to influence the election of the future President of the Republic, who will henceforth be chosen by Parliament.
Finally, the event was an opportunity to call for peace and social cohesion in this electoral period.
