Another major step forward for Togolese agriculture. At the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB) held in Abidjan on Wednesday May 28, Togo signed two major financing agreements worth a total of US$38.9 millionor approximately FCFA 22.44 billion.
This financing, obtained thanks to collaboration between the AfDB and the Green Climate Fund, aims to develop climate-resilient agro-industrial infrastructures in the Special agro-industrial processing zones (ZSTA) of the country.
Support consists of a donation of FCFA 16.73 billion of the Green Climate Fund, managed by the AfDB, and a concessional loan of FCFA 5.71 billion granted directly by the pan-African banking institution, now headed by Mauritanian Sidi Ould Tah.
"This is a first for Africa: it's the very first Green Climate Fund financing for a special agro-industrial transformation zone", said a delighted Nnenna NwabufoShe added: "It is essential to extend our support for the transformation of the agricultural sector, particularly through renewable energy technologies. This partnership is fully in line with the dynamic of structural transformation of the agricultural sector promoted by the Government roadmap Togo 2025with its sights set on a inclusive and sustainable growth.
