The display of the national flag in public spaces is the exclusive prerogative of the State.
Administrations, official institutions and the palaces of canton chiefs are the only entities authorized to raise the flag, following rigid protocols defining its positioning and half-masting procedures, particularly in times of national mourning.
Conversely, in the private sphere, the use of the flag remains an individual freedom.
Citizens are free to display it to show their patriotism or celebrate sporting victories, provided they respect the dignity of the national emblem.
