In an official press release issued today, the Ministry of Commerce, Handicrafts and Local Consumption reiterated the vital importance of promoting local products and services, in line with the Prime Minister's directives.
The aim is to support the country's economic growth and promote Togolese know-how in this period of economic development.
Under circular letter n°002/20/PM/CAB of October 7, 2020, Madame Prime Minister had already urged ministers and heads of state-owned companies to give preference to local products in official services, particularly for events such as coffee breaks, lunches, and official dinners.
The Ministry of Commerce is reiterating this appeal through an urgent invitation to public service managers, urging them to choose Togolese goods and services for the Workers' Day celebrations scheduled for May 1, 2025.
The aim behind this initiative is clear: to stimulate the production and processing of local products, while actively contributing to Togo's socio-economic development.
Minister Kayi Mivedor-Sambiani emphasizes the importance of this measure for the development of the local sector, stressing that every gesture of support for national companies is a step towards sustainable economic autonomy.
Through this initiative, the Togolese government is calling for national solidarity in which every player, from ministries to citizens, plays a key role in the success of the local consumption policy.
Awareness-raising and economic patriotism are becoming essential levers for strengthening national industry and increasing the exportability of Togolese products.
"Compliance with the provisions of the circular letter is the key to the success of our policy to promote local consumption, which is essential to the socio-economic development of our country," the Minister asserted in his press release. He therefore invites those in charge to show patriotism and apply the recommendations for the May 1st holiday, thus reinforcing the importance of supporting local products.
This move is part of a series of initiatives designed to promote the growth of local businesses and boost the Togolese economy in a global context marked by complex economic issues. The authorities hope that this reminder will help to make the population and economic players even more aware of the benefits of more responsible, local consumption.
The call to support "Made in Togo" products is part of an overall drive to build a stronger, more economically self-sufficient Togo.
