Although Togo has no nuclear power plant, nuclear technologies are used in key sectors such as health, industry and agriculture. Aware of the risks associated with these applications, the country has set up the Autorité Nationale de Sûreté et de Sécurité Nucléaire (ANSSN) to oversee their use.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) organized a meeting in Lomé to strengthen Togo's nuclear safety system. The aim: to update Togo's Integrated Nuclear Safety Plan (INSSP), five years after its last revision in 2020. This update aims to adapt legislation, strengthen risk prevention and improve incident detection and response mechanisms.
With this initiative, Togo confirms its commitment to rigorous management in line with international standards, guaranteeing the safe and responsible use of nuclear technologies on its territory.
