After a journey lasting several days, the General Manager of the National Police (DGPN) and its delegation made a stopover in Sokodé on Saturday December 7, 2024. The meeting in the central region was marked by a number of highlights, combining sport, awareness-raising and constructive exchanges.

A soccer match to bring police and public closer together

The afternoon in Sokodé was marked by an unprecedented sporting encounter between the ASPOTO team, made up of police officers, and local club Dynamo FC. The match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, was much more than just a sporting clash.

It was the setting for an outreach initiative between the National Police and the youth of Sokodé. Officials took the opportunity to raise awareness among young people of the importance of collaborating with the forces of law and order to guarantee collective security.

A morning devoted to dialogue with police officers

Earlier in the day, at the Centre national de tissage in Sokodé, the DGPN met with around a hundred police officers from Sector 3. The discussions, chaired by Commissaire divisionnaire Babarime Akatao, focused on essential reminders of the duties of police officers: avoiding blunders, staying close to the population and establishing a climate of trust. "Police officers must be able to reassure," insisted the DGPN in his speech.

For nearly four hours, these discussions helped to strengthen the foundations of a Police force at the service of citizens, oriented towards a more human and proactive approach.

A national tour in the service of safety

This stopover in Sokodé marked the end of a nationwide tour which took the DGPN and her delegation some 1,700 kilometers from Monday December 2 to Sunday December 8. The aim was to make contact with police officers in every region of the country, from south to north, and to strengthen the links between officers and their communities.

A cautious return

This Sunday, the DGPN and his team hit the road again for Lomé, bringing to a close a week rich in exchanges and action on the ground. As the end-of-year festivities approach, the message remains clear: redouble vigilance on our roads and continue our efforts to ensure everyone's safety.

A memorable trip which, over and above the miles covered, consolidated the pillars of an indispensable collaboration between the national police force and citizens.
