A clean-up operation took place on June 21 on the campus of the University of Lomé. This activity, which mobilized several dozen students, aims to promote community service among young people, on the occasion of June 21, the day dedicated to the celebration of martyrs.
Divided into two teams between the north and south campuses, the students, equipped with spades, removed plastic waste and other objects carelessly thrown on the ground. The technical services of the Direction de la Gestion du Domaine Universitaire (DGDU) supported the teams by removing the garbage.
At the end of the operation, Mr. Komi Kalipé conveyed the congratulations of the President of the University of Lomé, Professor Adama Mawulé Kpodar, to the students for their active participation in the operation, and urged them to raise awareness among their peers of the need to preserve the campus environment. Proud of their civic-minded actions, the students expressed the wish that such operations be duplicated.
Carrying out a public service action on June 21 is part of the "National Day of Service" initiative. It aims to promote civic and patriotic values among young people.
