Togo has confirmed eight cases of Mpox in Lomé, according to official data as of May 25, 2025.
Faced with this situation, the health authorities activated a reinforced response, focusing on epidemiological surveillance, community involvement and targeted patient care.
Coordinated by virologist Anoumou Yaotsè Dagnra, the response is mobilizing health centers, laboratories and field workers. Mpox, a viral disease related to smallpox and transmitted by close contact, represents an increased risk for immunocompromised people.
For the time being, the WHO favors individual preventive measures - strict hygiene, isolation of cases, rapid detection - rather than mass vaccination. In a context under surveillance, vigilance remains the watchword.
