Faced with the resurgence of measles outbreaks, Togo is redoubling its efforts to curb the spread of this highly contagious disease, which mainly affects children.
The vaccination campaign carried out from February 24 to March 1, 2025 in the Mô health district is a striking example. Nearly 2,400 children aged 9 months to 14 years were vaccinated, with WHO support.
This initiative is part of a series of actions carried out over several years, including the vast 2018 campaign that reached 3.4 million children across the country, and the December 2022 campaign that vaccinated 1.6 million children. These efforts are aimed at achieving herd immunity and sustainably eradicating measles in Togo.
By focusing on prevention and vaccination coverage, notably through the Expanded Program on Immunization, the Togolese government aims to offer every child better protection against this potentially fatal disease.
