In keeping with a now well-established tradition, the staff of the Presidency of the Republic of Togo celebrated Labor Day on May 1, 2025 in a fraternal and solemn atmosphere. With Madame Sandra Ablamba Johnson, Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency, representing the Head of State, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé's staff enjoyed a day of recognition, reflection and patriotic duty.

Alongside him, several ministers from the Presidency, including Pascal Bodjona, Edem Kokou Tengué and Agnès Eho-Johnson, honored this convivial meeting between colleagues with their presence.

A moment of communion and well-deserved tribute

The ceremony opened on a note of unity and gratitude. On behalf of the Head of State, the Secretary General of the Presidency welcomed the staff and saluted their daily dedication. She highlighted the profound meaning of this celebration: to honor work as the pillar of social progress and the driving force behind national development.

"I would like to express my admiration and gratitude for your efforts in building and developing our country", she declared, calling on each agent to embody the values of loyalty, excellence and perseverance.

A special tribute was paid to retirees, the day's guests of honor. Madame Sandra Ablamba Johnson emphasized that retirement is not an end, but a new stage in life. "Dear seniors, this ceremony of distinction is not a farewell," she said with emotion. The retired agents received a trophy symbolizing the State's recognition of their commitment and loyalty.

The Head of State's social policy hailed

The Minister took the opportunity to recall the social advances achieved under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé. She mentioned in particular the recruitment of over 3,000 young people into the civil service, the implementation of universal health insurance and the gradual digitization of the administration. According to her, these reforms reflect the Head of State's determination to build an equitable and inclusive society.

"I salute the social policy of the President of the Republic, thanks to which the well-being of Togolese workers is constantly assured and improved," she said.

Modernization and performance requirements

Against a backdrop of institutional transformation, the General Secretary urged agents to change their conception of work: "It's no longer just a question of producing, but of innovating, of creating added value. Let's be builders of a future of hope and justice."

The staff spokesman, for his part, expressed the gratitude of the entire workforce to the Head of State for his humanist vision and his constant investment in peace, stability and improved living conditions.

The ceremony ended on a festive note, marked by pride and a renewed commitment to the President's vision of a fair, prosperous and united Togo.

A second celebration at the Ministry of Planning

Continuing the day's celebrations, Madame Sandra Ablamba Johnson visited the Ministry of Development Planning and Cooperation. There, on behalf of the Head of State, she conveyed congratulations and encouragement to the staff for their essential contribution to the implementation of development projects.

"We have a pressing duty to roll up our sleeves to meet the growing needs of our populations", she insisted, calling for greater rigor, efficiency and diligence.

Wherever it took place, Labour Day was an opportunity to strengthen ties between colleagues, celebrate merit and reaffirm the values of solidarity, excellence and patriotism that underpin public action in the service of Togo.
