On April 21, 2025, the Gospel fraternity of Saint-Antoine de Padoue church in Hanoukopé once again gathered the people of Lomé for the traditional Run and Walk for the Resurrectionan event combining spirituality and sport.
It was the 20th edition of this not-to-be-missed Christian Easter event, marked by record attendance.

Under the theme "Christ Risen: A Way of HopeThe event brought together thousands of faithful from various parishes, including the quasi-parish of Christ Ressuscité in Sagbado-Logoté, to proclaim the resurrection of Christ in a festive and fraternal atmosphere. The route, which took in the streets of Lomé-Centre, was punctuated by powerful spiritual moments, such as prayers for peace and a tribute to the memory of Pope Francis, who had died that very morning.
A Heritage of Evangelization
Visit Run and Walk for the Resurrection was born in 2003 under the initiative of the Gospel Brotherhood, led by figures such as John Domingo. Its aim: to evangelize the streets and remind people that Christ is truly risen, a message inspired by the Gospel according to Saint John (20:2a, 4).
The event quickly established itself as an annual tradition, extending in 2022 to the parish of Aflao Sagbado-Logoté. The latter celebrated its third participation and strengthened its collaboration with the Hanoukopé parish, making the 2025 edition particularly special.
A Moment of Prayer and Fraternity
The morning was also marked by an atmosphere of prayer and recollection. Participants paused to reflect in memory of the pontiff, and took part in fun activities such as Zumba and sports games. Popular songs of praise, led by the Saint-Antoine de Padoue brass band, added to the joyful and spiritual atmosphere.
Through this event, Lomé's Christian community reaffirmed its commitment to spreading the hope of the Risen Christ, while strengthening the bonds of fraternity and unity between parishes.
