On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in Lomé the President of the Togolese Republic His Excellency Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE received the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina.
On the agenda was a review of the partnership between Togo and the continental banking institution, as well as prospects in line with the country's development vision in various sectors.
In the road sector, already discussed last November, the two personalities once again discussed financing options for the construction of the Unity Highway, the government's flagship infrastructure project.

"I discussed with the President of the Republic his vision for the industrialization of the country, and how the African Development Bank and its partners can make investments in infrastructures such as the Lomé-Cinkassé road, a very important corridor that requires an investment of 2.9 billion dollars. We are in the process of mobilizing investors around this project", assured Akinwumi Adesina at the end of the exchange.
The Head of State and his host also discussed two other key issues: health infrastructures and the agricultural sector, with the optimization of fertilizer production from phosphate.
As a reminder, the AfDB is a strategic partner of Togo, which has focused its strategy for the period 2021 - 2026 on two priority areas, namely the development of inclusive growth poles and socially inclusive policies, and the strengthening of financial and sectoral governance.
