Nostalgic for his deeply moving childhood in the philosophy of philosophical novels, author Robert Dussey, Togo's current Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2013, dedicated his third novel published by ALPHA- OMEGA at the Salle Ahadzi- Nonou of the University of Lomé on Monday April 08, 2024.

The 177-page book, entitled "The Goat", is the third novel for this academic writer and diplomat. Through the pages of this book, the minister addresses in particular the younger generations caught up in the absurdity of a world where God can still seem like an easy equation.

This novel is as tragic as existence itself, and warns against an easy way out that sometimes leaves a bitter taste, but this is precisely its lesson: bitterness is perhaps the first stage in redemption.

"Le Bouc", is made up of four (04 ) chapters with informative titles to note: Between Life and Death, Early Love, HIV and Divine Encounter. The new book is a blend of fiction and social reality.

For the author, it's a channel for denouncing the sexual vagrancy of certain young people, who end up sabotaging their lives and compromising their future. Prof Robert Dussey calls for a new awareness of the issue.

"It's a call to more wisdom," says Prof. Dussey, who urges "young people to lead a disciplined life", and above all to control their sexual urges.

The Goat in question
"The Goat" is a metaphorical title for the book. It highlights the excessive sexuality that characterizes this animal.

To support his pedagogy, the author has summoned up the story of Koné, the only son of Christopher and Chrystelle. The young student Koné is presented as a womanizer. By the age of 15, he had fornicated with thirty-six (36) girls, not counting isolated one-night stands. Sadly, he died tragically of HIV/AIDS.

"The originality of this work lies first and foremost in its title. The title has no direct connection with the narrative, since it's the billy goat. And the reader will be surprised at the end of his reading to find no goat as an animal. In fact, the author has recuperated the symbolism of the goat, a negative image we have in our circles", noted Prof Guy Missodey, who carried out the scientific analysis of the novel.

Minister Robert Dussey has published two novels: La vie sans vie and Une comédie sous les tropiques, as well as several political works: Pour une paix durable en Afrique, penser la réconciliation au Togo, and L'Afrique malade de ses hommes politiques.
