The 2024-2025 soybean production season was officially launched this past weekend in Guérin-Kouka, in Togo's Dankpen prefecture. The ceremony was organized by the Conseil interprofessionnel de la filière soja (CIFS).

This new campaign, under the theme of "mechanization of soybean production, a factor in increased productivity", is set to be a great success.

"We have learned the lessons of previous campaigns and are determined to overcome the challenges encountered to further increase our productivity," said Komlan Kadzakadè, President of CIFS.

A number of measures have been taken to this end. These include improving access to quality seeds, strengthening producers' technical capacities, and extending storage and processing infrastructures.

For his part, Alex Kpanté Bouab, Director of Entrepreneurship and Agricultural Financing at the Ministry of Agriculture, stressed the importance of producing soybeans and processing them locally to create jobs and wealth.

As a reminder, 260,200 tonnes of soybeans were produced during the 2023-2025 campaign. Togo is the world's leading exporter of organic soybeans to the EU, and a year ago adopted a new five-year strategic plan focused on developing local processing, enhancing exports and strengthening human resources.
