In a festive atmosphere marked by dynamism and social cohesion, the Commune of Golfe 5 vibrated to the rhythm of the 32nd edition of the Journées Nationales des Sports (JNS), celebrated this Saturday with a large-scale sports walk.
The event, which ended on the Franciscan grounds of Avedji-Anyigbé, drew an enthusiastic crowd, led by the President of the National Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel Kodjo ADEDZE.


Alongside the President, a number of eminent personalities honored the day with their presence: Senator Pascaline DANGBUIE, the Attaché de Cabinet of the Ministry of Sports and Leisure, Mr. Longniwa LEMOU, the Prefect of the Gulf, Mr. Kossi AGBODAN, and the Chef Canton of Aflao-Gakli, Togbui DZIDZOLI DETU X. The commune's mayor, Mr Kossi Agbenyega ABOKA, was surrounded by his deputies, municipal councillors, community workers and representatives of the grassroots development committees (CDB).








Under the national theme of the month : "Sport and inclusion: breaking down barriers, celebrating diversity".The day was an opportunity to promote both physical well-being and social cohesion. Rhythmed by lively music, the physical activity session combined stretching, flexibility, relaxation and muscle strengthening, guided by professional sports coaches.
A message of peace and solidarity
In his speech, the President of the National Assembly welcomed the JNS initiative, reflecting the Togolese government's determination to promote public health through sport. He paid a warm tribute to the Head of State, Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBÉ, for his policy focused on peace, living together and grassroots development. He urged citizens to integrate sport into their daily lives, while cultivating the values of civic-mindedness and citizenship.

Mayor Kossi A. ABOKA, for his part, stressed the importance of this day as an essential monthly rendezvous for citizens. He appealed for collective responsibility: "Maintaining our streets and cleaning our gutters is an act of civic-mindedness and local patriotism".he insisted. He took the opportunity to raise awareness of the ecological and therapeutic benefits of trees, calling for a massive mobilization for the National Tree Dayscheduled for the following day, Sunday June 1, 2025, in Atikoumé.
Sport, the cement of social cohesion
The Prefect of the Gulf, Mr Kossi Agbodan, echoed the words of the President of the Republic, reminding us that "sport is a vector for health, but also for social cohesion".. This message was reinforced by the Ministry of Sport's Attaché de Cabinet, who hailed the strong mobilization, while stressing the importance of local governance and social inclusion in national sports policy.
Participants were also made aware of the symptoms and prevention of monkeypox, through a presentation by Dr Georges AYITOU of the Djidjolé CMS. The Tiens network also played an active role in the event.

Towards a greener, more caring community
The event ended on a civic and ecological note, in a collective commitment to a healthy environment and a more united society, with a National Tree Day to be launched this Sunday in the commune of Golfe 5 in Atikoumé next to the rails. As for the National Sports Day, the appointment is made for the next monthly edition, always more inclusive, always more supportive.
