Togo once again shines on the continental stage thanks to an emblematic figure of African entrepreneurship: Gervais Koffi Djondo. On Saturday in Kumasi (Ghana), the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asky airline was awarded the prestigious Millennium Excellence Foundation. He received the Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize - Global Banking and Aviation Excellence in Africa 2025a major award recognizing his outstanding contribution to the continent's economic development.
This award recognizes the remarkable career of Mr. Djondo, a pioneer in two key sectors of African integration: finance, through the creation of Ecobankand aviation, with the launch of the Asky. These two institutions, which have become symbols of pan-African success, embody a bold vision of regional economic cooperation.
In a humble speech, Gervais Djondo shared this honor with his colleagues:
"This is not a personal recognition, but the fruit of a collective effort in the service of African progress," he declared.
Based in Lomé, Asky currently serves 29 cities in 27 countries with a fleet of 14 appliances. Its business model is based on a balance between local expertise and solid international partnerships, notably with Ethiopian Airlinesa strategic partner, and the Togolese government's stake in the capital.
An outspoken advocate of economic pan-Africanism, Mr Djondo took the opportunity to send a strong message to the continent's youth:
"The future of our continent lies in cooperation, solidarity and investment in our own potential.
In honoring Gervais Djondo, the African continent is paying tribute not only to a visionary career, but also to a mindset resolutely focused on building a strong, united and sovereign Africa.
