Éric Sékou Chelle has been appointed coach of Nigeria's national team, the Super Eagles, with the aim of qualifying them for the 2026 World Cup.
He succeeds Finidi George, who resigned after a disappointing start to the qualifiers. Chelle, a former Mali coach, led the Malian team to the quarter-finals of the CAN 2023 and has an impressive record. He will begin his mission with a crucial match in March.
At 47, he will bring his experience as a player, notably in France, to the Nigerian team.
