In a context marked by an upsurge in acts of insecurity in the run-up to the festive season, the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection has announced the launch of Operation KÈLIGOU, a special operation designed to reinforce security throughout the country.
The press release, signed on December 21, 2024 by Ambassador Calixte Batossie Madjoulba, details the measures taken to ensure a peaceful atmosphere during this festive period.
A proactive response to insecurity
The end-of-year period often sees an increase in crime, delinquency and road accidents. With this in mind, Operation KÈLIGOU, which means "vigilance" in the local language, was launched on December 20, 2024. This initiative, coordinated by Togolese security forces, aims to prevent and repress acts that threaten public tranquillity.
Increased security
The operation is being deployed through a number of actions in the field, including : Local and security patrols, day and night, to ensure a continuous presence of law enforcement officers.
Identity and roadside checks, to verify compliance with the rules in force and identify any suspicious behavior.
Strike operations and area controls to deter all forms of banditry.
Arrests, leading to police custody if necessary.
Call for vigilance and citizen cooperation
The Minister of Security has called on the Togolese population to be extra vigilant and to cooperate actively with the forces of law and order. Any suspicious situation or individual should be reported to the competent authorities via the following emergency numbers:

Citizens are also advised to carry identification with them at all times, and drivers are advised to have their vehicle documents ready.
