On Monday June 9, 2025, the Akébou prefecture was abuzz with a major reforestation operation. Under the impetus of the Honourable Deputy Kodjo GNATSE, the people of Commune Akebou 2 mobilized en masse to plant 500 saplings on the Gochine site, a one-hectare plot located in Kamina, the commune's chief town.

This initiative is in line with the priorities of the President of the Council, His Excellency Faure Gnassingbé, who places forestry policy and the fight against climate change at the heart of his action. Indeed, the restoration of green spaces is an essential lever for preserving the environment and strengthening the resilience of communities to the effects of climate change.

Alongside the Honourable Member of Parliament, Mayor OWOUSSOU Koffi Bedou, the traditional chieftaincy, the forces of law and order, craftsmen, grassroots UNIR party structures and the Comités de Développement à la Base (CDB) joined forces to make the campaign a success. This exemplary mobilization testifies to the commitment of the commune's vital forces to protecting their living environment.

The people present expressed their deep gratitude to the President of the Council, hailing a pragmatic and social policy that benefits the whole of Togo, and Akébou in particular. In his speech, the Honourable Kodjo GNATSE conveyed the warm greetings of His Excellency Faure Gnassingbé. He took the opportunity to urge residents to adopt responsible behavior in terms of environmental protection, respect for public property, civic-mindedness, tolerance and rejection of all forms of violent extremism.

This reforestation operation symbolizes a new stage in the ecological dynamic initiated by the Togolese authorities, with their firm determination to involve all local players in safeguarding their natural heritage. This exemplary approach deserves to be applauded and encouraged in all regions of the country.
