On January 7, 2025, on the sidelines of Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama's inauguration ceremony in Accra, Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé and Kenyan President William Ruto exchanged views on a range of topics.
They discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of economics, peacebuilding and the fight against climate change. This meeting follows on from the Nairobi Declaration on Climate Change, supported by President Ruto.
The two countries, sharing common development objectives, are exploring partnerships in the investment, tourism and trade sectors.
In November, Faure Gnassingbé took part in the Africa Climate Summit as part of COP29 in Baku.
