Campaigning for the February 15, 2025 senatorial elections probably began in Bassar on Friday February 7, marking the launch of intense mobilization within the Union pour la République (UNIR) party.
A strategic meeting with voters
On the first day of the event, party executives held a series of meetings with key voters in the communes of Bassar 1 and Bassar 2. Among the key figures present were campaign supervisor Pr. Tchin DARRÉ, deputies Yawanké Waké Gbati and Hatim Tchaboré, former Gnofam minister Kodjo Gnambi Garba and candidate Djato Tassounti.
The meeting raised awareness among local elected representatives of the importance of mass mobilization for these crucial elections.

A call for unity and support for institutional reforms
The exchanges highlighted the need to support President Faure Gnassingbé in setting up the institutions of the 5ᵉ Republic, notably the Senate, which will play a key role in the country's institutional architecture. Candidate Djato Tassounti and his deputy, Mme Yohou Wombrou Colette, were introduced to the grand electors by campaign manager Hon. Yawanké Waké Gbati, who relayed the UNIR message to local elected representatives.
Building knowledge and awareness
Mr. Kodjo Gnambi Garba, Advocate General at the Supreme Court, took advantage of the meeting to delve deeper into the notions of the 5ᵉ Republic and underline the importance of the Senate in Togo's institutional landscape. For his part, Mr. Martin Tchourou outlined the missions of republican institutions and the central role of senators. These presentations led to enriching exchanges, enabling local councillors to obtain clarification on a number of essential points.


A message of cohesion and security for Bassar
Candidate Djato Tassounti focused his speech on the unity of the sons and daughters of Bassar for the harmonious development of the prefecture. He stressed the need for greater cohesion, tolerance and a change of mentality to build a stronger, more prosperous Bassar and Togo. Finally, he warned of the security challenges ahead, calling on the population to redouble their vigilance to combat criminal acts and preserve peace in the region.
This first day of campaigning thus marks an active mobilization of UNIR executives in Bassar, with the aim of massive participation and electoral success in the February 15, 2025 senatorial ballot.
