The 2023-2024 women's soccer season came to a close on Saturday January 25 in Lomé with the final day of the play-offs. The women's Association Sportive de la Kozah (ASKO FC) were crowned Togo champions, winning their first national title despite a 0-1 defeat by Ahé FC.
The derby was played out in the opening minutes, with Alice Ogor scoring Ahé FC's first goal in 8ᵉ minutes. However, this score in favor of their opponents was not enough to upset the hierarchy. ASKO's "Jaunes et Noirs", thanks to their 6 points and a +3 goal difference, consolidated their position at the top of the table.
ASKO women's coach Kadanga Bakaï expressed his satisfaction: "Winning the championship this season was our goal all along, and I'm proud that we achieved it. Now our priority is to prepare well for next season."
ASKO's triumph is also a victory for women's soccer in Togo. The Togolese Football Federation (FTF) hailed the progress made this season, highlighting a dynamic development and greater visibility for local players.
As champions, the ASKO players will have the honor of representing Togo in the CAF Women's Champions League, a continental competition where they will be able to fly the national flag.
This historic first victory confirms ASKO's ambition to become one of Togo's leading soccer teams.
