The Togolese government has taken a decisive step in the structuring of its security apparatus with the establishment of the National Defense and Security Council (CNDS). The mission of this new body is to strengthen crisis and security risk management, in response to the contemporary challenges facing the country.
On Thursday, the CNDS began to take shape with the appointment by presidential decree of Colonel Badibawou Bakali as Secretary General.
A former aide-de-camp to President Faure Gnassingbé and Prefect of Kozah since 2011, Bakali is a senior officer renowned for his experience and rigor. His background in territorial administration and security circles makes him a strategic choice to lead this essential structure.
In an international context marked by a rapid flow of information and an upsurge in terrorist threats, the CNDS is positioning itself as a key player in the defense of the nation's fundamental interests. Colonel Bakali's appointment augurs well for a proactive, structured approach to today's security challenges.
