Togo has taken another major step forward in its strategy for the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
On January 10, the government issued a decree formalizing the creation of the Commissariat à l'énergie atomique (CEAT), a key institution designed to coordinate efforts and harness nuclear science and technology for sustainable development.
Responsible for designing and implementing training, research and technology application programs, CEAT is part of an ambitious Togo project exploring the potential of nuclear power in strategic sectors such as health, agriculture, energy and the environment.
This new tool completes an already structured framework, with the National Nuclear Safety and Security Authority (ANSSN), created in 2021, and the partnership established in 2020 with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These measures place the country on a promising trajectory, combining technological innovation and development aspirations.
