Preparations for the 9th Pan-African Congress in Lomé are entering their final phase. After five preparatory conferences in the different regions of Africa, Brazil hosts this Thursday, August 29, the last meeting dedicated to the Afro-descendant diaspora region.
This event brings together experts from different countries to discuss the theme of "Remembrance, restitution, reparation and reconstruction".
For three days, participants will be working on concrete proposals to be submitted at the Lomé meeting. The main objective is to formulate recommendations that will take into account the aspirations and needs of Afro-descendant populations.
As a reminder, the Lomé Congress will be the fourth on the continent, following those held in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Kampala (Uganda) and Johannesburg (South Africa). The first five Pan-African Congresses were held outside Africa (mainly in Europe, with the exception of the 4th in New York).
