After a long eclipse, the Malian sky is about to welcome a new major player.
The Malian government has given the go-ahead for the creation of "MALI AIRLINES-SA", a national airline designed to relaunch the country's air service. This decision, in line with the recommendations of the "états généraux des transports", aims to improve Mali's connectivity, both within and beyond its borders.
By creating this new airline, Mali aims to revive its tradition of sovereign air transport and strengthen its regional integration.
From 1960 to 1985, domestic and international air services were provided by the national airline "AIR MALI", which was the pride of all Malians, both at home and abroad. Following the closure of "AIR MALI", domestic and international services were provided by Mali Airlines between 2005 and 2012, according to the communiqué issued by the Council of Ministers. Domestic services are currently provided by private airlines.
