Togo is waging a relentless battle against endemic diseases, gradually transforming its healthcare system to better protect its population. Faced with diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and neglected tropical diseases, the country has stepped up its initiatives:
mass screening, awareness campaigns, wider access to treatment. These efforts have borne fruit. Between 2014 and 2022, HIV prevalence dropped from 2.5 % to 1.7 %, and tuberculosis incidence fell from 41 to 33 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Better still, in 2022 Togo became the first country in the world to eliminate four neglected tropical diseases, according to the WHO. Building on these successes, the country aims to eliminate four more diseases by 2030, confirming its determination to build a healthier future.
