Lomé is actively preparing for the 9th Pan-African Congress, scheduled to take place from October 29 to November 02, 2024. To give the media an idea of what this pan-African event is all about, a meeting with the Togolese press was held on March 11 in Lomé, in the presence of the Director of the Diaspora Desk, Mr. SEDAMINOU A. Kouakou, and the Director of African Integration, Mr. PETCHEZI Esso. Kouakou, and the Director of African Integration, PETCHEZI Essohanam.

Initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Abroad, this press conference aimed to explain to media players the specific features and objectives of the Pan-African Congress in Lomé, as well as the expected results and key players at this event, eagerly awaited by pan-Africanists of all stripes.

Placed around the theme "Renewal of Pan-Africanism and Africa's role in the reform of multilateral institutions: mobilizing resources and reinventing ourselves for action", this is a broad theme aimed at mobilizing strong support for this 9th congress, whose ambition is to reinvent Pan-Africanism in a world in transition and crisis.

According to the joint note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the congress will also provide an opportunity to explore how the continent's development can best benefit from the contribution of the diaspora and Afro-descendants. This is a crucial aspect of ensuring inclusive and sustainable development in Africa.

With this in mind, Togo's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the importance of developing a renewed vision of pan-Africanism, proposing new strategies for mobilizing resources, responding to the aspirations of the diaspora and Afro-descendants, and formulating a new pan-African paradigm to better serve the continent's development and influence.

The 9th Pan-African Congress in Lomé promises to be a major event, calling for in-depth reflection on the future of Africa and its positioning on the world stage.

The Pan-African Congress in Lomé will be the 4th to be held on the continent, following the 6th in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the 7th in Kampala, Uganda and the 8th in Johannesburg, South Africa.
